Soup is Garage Beer Co.’s flagship beer. It’s a New England IPA, with a super heavy and fruity hoppy aroma. Its texture is thick, cloudy, and chewie, resembling juice with pulp, than beer.
In 2015 when the company co-founder James told me about SOUP, the first thing that flashed on my mind was the Campbell’s Soup Cans of Andy Warhol. I wanted the design to feel thick and juicy, and the labels to look iconic and playful just like the name.
We used a combination of photography and image manipulation to achieve the results.
Later on, I collaborated with illustrator Silvana Casuccio Martín to turn the photographical designs into illustrations in order to use on merchandising.
SOUP was a success. It helped boost the company’s launch in the UK, it was featured in the Guardian, BBC, and many more publications and media channels.
